	Alice Tennie Provart, 101, who lived in Du Quoin for over three quarters of a century, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 10, 2005, at Friendship Village of West County in Chesterfield, Mo.  She had been in failing health for the last few years.
	Alice was born in Clark Center, Ill. on December 20, 1903, the daughter of Aden and Lydia Ann (Siverly) Moore.  After the passing of her parents in1913, Alice and her sister Ruth were sent to the Du Quoin Children's Home.  Later she became a foster child of the Bossle family.  She married Philip Allen Provart, longtime Perry County Superintendent of Schools, on December 26, 1923, in Terre Haute, Ind.  He preceded her in death on November 26, 1979.  Alice worked as a sales clerk at the Economy Variety Store and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  She was an accomplished quilter, gardener, baker, and seamstress.
	Survivors include her granddaughter Nancy Croessmann of Madison, N.J. and her husband, Allen; grandson Brian Teel of Colorado Springs, Colo. and his wife, Ginny; four great-grandchildren, Ross Croessmann and his wife Jennifer of Florham Park, N.J., Heather Teel of Colorado Springs, Colo.,  Alison Croessmann of New York, N.Y., and Brandon Teel of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one great-great-grandson, Drew Croessmann of Florham Park, N.J.  Also surviving are her son-in-law, Loren Teel of Du Quoin; a nephew, James Red of Du Quoin; and a niece, Sharon Kay Provart of Indianapolis, Ind.
	Her parents; her husband; a daughter, Betty Lue Teel; three brothers and six sisters preceded her in death.
	Funeral services will be held at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Sunday, May 15, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Carl Mesiti officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
	Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Du Quoin.
